Fund Gene Research for JCM
We finally have a fighting chance to stop Juvenile Cardiomyopathy (JCM) in its tracks...
The Canadian and American Manchester Terrier Clubs, with support from the Gold Country Manchester Terrier Club, are leading worldwide efforts to fund what may be the most important research ever conducted in our breed. Researchers at the University of Minnesota, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Prince Edward Island are coming together with a single goal -- to find the gene causing Juvenile Cardiomyopathy (JCM) in Toy Manchester Terriers. If they are successful, breeders will be able to test for and eliminate JCM from Toy Manchester Terriers and English Toy Terriers forever.
Identification of the JCM gene is expected to cost up to $15,000 (USD). To reach this target, breeders, clubs and individual owners around the world will need to pull together and give like never before.
Note: We are committed to making every dollar raised work hard for our breed's future. Funds collected via GoFundMe or through donations made to the CMTC, AMTC or study team for the purposes of this study will be pooled and directed for use by the JCM study team as needed. Should the JCM marker be identified before all moneys raised have been spent, remaining funds will be split evenly between the AMTC and CMTC health committees to support future breed-related health projects.

Reward Levels
To thank donors for their generosity, the JCM Committee has commissioned a one-of-a-kind design from artist and Manchester Terrier owner Molly Yang. Variations of the artwork are shown in the gallery below. This beautiful puppy design celebrates the intense love we share with our loyal Black and Tans and is exclusive to this fundraiser. That means the only way to own it is to donate through GoFundMe, Paypal or via a direct donation to the study team. Check out our GoFundMe page for information on rewards for donations at the $25, $50, $100, $250, $500 and $1,000 levels.

University of Minnesota Foundation - Tax-deductible Gifts
American and Canadian donors can make tax-deductible donations through The University of Minnesota Foundation. Contact Michelle Barlak for instructions on making tax-deductible donations directly to the University. You may donate online or by mailing a cheque or money order. (Note: Unfortunately, tax laws prohibit recognition gifts in return for taxable donations so we are unable to provide donation rewards for donors making their contribution through the Foundation). Don't forget to ask your employer if they give matching gifts. Many companies offer programs where they will match charitable contributions from their employees.
